Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the tens of millions of LGBT&Q people of this country, I applaud you for standing up today and affirming your leadership as the kind that is able to embrace the needs and rights of all walks of life.  What you have done is beyond brave, and speaks to your political evolution toward full integrity, where you will stand up for what is right and fair for everyone who looks to you as an example of a model United States Citizen.  It seems strange to be excited about a leader simply stating that he believes in equal rights for all people, but it was time that a President of our great country finally made history by saying what you did–that gays and lesbians should have the same rights as heterosexual people.  From the bottom of our hearts…Thank you!

To the people of NORTH CAROLINA who voted IN FAVOR of DISCRIMINATION today, know that you have cast a great deal of shame on yourselves, on the State of North Carolina, on the Christian belief system, and on the United States as a country who, from its earliest days, has tried to battle hatred, and has continually evolved to provide lives of equality and fairness for all of its citizens. Shame on you for being selfish enough to believe that you deserve rights that others do not, and for using, often times, the Christian religion as a type of justification for your actions of decisive hatred, ignorance, violence, and murder.  Today you have spit on the U.S. Constitution that attempts to provide life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to Americans, on the graves of all LGBT citizens who have been violently brought to death under your style of hatred, on the graves of the LGBT servicemembers who have fought and died for your right to freedom, and on the very leader of a Christian religion who would look at your exclusionary and elitist views with a similar disappointment.
